A Firebrand Training
12
Day Course
Our twelve-day Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCAD/MCSD) program is appropriate for lead developers who design and develop leading-edge enterprise solutions with Microsoft development tools, technologies, platforms, and the Microsoft .NET Framework.
The course is constructed to allow students to take their exams in either VB.NET or C#.NET.
The MCSD credential is one of the most widely recognized technical certifications in the industry. By earning the premier MCAD/MCSD for Microsoft .NET credential, individuals demonstrate that they have the skills necessary to lead organizations in the successful design, implementation, and administration of business solutions with Microsoft products. The MCSD for Microsoft .NET is credential is appropriate for software engineers, application analysts, software application developers, and software developers.
The MCSD job role includes analyzing business and technical requirements, and defining the solution architecture, as well as implementing the requirements and building, deploying, and maintaining the solution. We recommend candidates have at least two years of experience as a lead developer.
Reasons for Microsoft MCSD certification include career advancement, personal improvement, skills enhancement, and higher salaries. Certification garners industry recognition of your knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft most current products and technologies.
Technical certification is a sound investment in your career. Although certification does not guarantee success, research has shown that it can have a significant impact on:
Other accelerated training providers rely heavily on lecture and independent self-testing and study.
Effective technical instruction must be highly varied and interactive to keep attention levels high, promote camaraderie and teamwork between the students and instructor, and solidify knowledge through hands-on learning.
This information has been provided as a helpful tool for candidates considering certification. Benefits of certification determined through studies do not guarantee any particular personal successes. Firebrand Training provides a guarantee of obtaining certification at the camp, but does not make any guarantees about personal successes or benefits of obtaining certification.
Firebrand Training has an aggressive educational schedule that thoroughly covers all essential elements necessary to become certified as a Microsoft Certified Application Developer.
Certification candidates must pass five certification exams to earn MCSD certification. The exams provide a valid and reliable measure of technical proficiency and expertise.
Firebrand Training offers top-quality technical education and certification training in an all-inclusive course package specifically designed for the needs and ease of our students. We attend to every detail so our students can focus solely on their studies and certification goals.
Our instructors teach to accommodate every student's learning needs through individualised instruction, hands-on labs, lab partner and group exercises, independent study, self-testing, and question/answer drills.
Firebrand Training has dedicated, well-equipped educational facilities where you will attend instruction and labs and have access to comfortable study and lounging rooms. Our students consistently say our facilities are second-to-none.
Should a student complete a Firebrand Training Program without having successfully passed all vendor examinations, the student may re-attend that program for a period of one year. Students will only be responsible for accommodations and vendor exam fees.
The MCSD job role includes analyzing business and technical requirements, and defining the solution architecture, as well as implementing the requirements and building, deploying, and maintaining the solution. We recommend candidates have at least two years of experience as a lead developer.
All MCSD candidate should have at least one year of work experience developing and/or maintaining department-level applications, components, Web or desktop clients, or back-end data services. Additional basic knowledge of .NET, for example: "Have installed Visual Studio .NET and become familiarised with it over the course of a couple of weeks." is an advantageous.
It is also recommended that a student has at least 6 months of experience working with SQL Server or another relational database.
VB 5 or 6 experience including creating and using classes to build Windows based, Web based, or component based applications.
Alternative knowledge in a different object-oriented language is also acceptable, but some Visual Basic (not VBA) coding experience is advisable.
For developers intending to sit the C# exams, you must be competent with the C# language syntax before attending the course. In addition, practical knowledge of another object orientated language (such as C, C++ or Java) if the candidate does not have hands-on experience with C#.
Firebrand Training staff interview all potential students regarding their technical background, degrees and certifications held, and personal fortitude. This screening process ensures a successful match between the customer and Firebrand Training toward accelerated training and certification.
Firebrand Training is an aggressive training environment. You must have an attitude aimed for success. The above prerequisites are guidelines, but many students with less experience have other background or traits that have enabled their success in accelerated training through Firebrand Training.
"Hard and tiring but well worth it for getting certified fast. And the food is awesome."
Richard Marriott, Ultimedia.
Microsoft MCAD to MCSD Upgrade (5 Days) (3/7/2006 to 7/7/2006)
"I attended Firebrand* with no background in .NET, and no expectations - except that it was going to be hard work.
The course timetable is even more difficult than I had imagined, but it is achievable as the subject matter is of real interest, and the general buzz of the whole place - both from fellow delegates and the intructors - is uplifting.
If you are an IT professional, with a real interest in what you do and a keen desire to learn, you have all the tools you need. If you are not prepared to work hard and put the time in then I suggest you take up knitting instead."
Anon, KMS Internet.
Microsoft MCAD/MCSD (12 Days) (21/7/2003 to 3/8/2003)
"If your wondering if it can all be done in such a shirt space of time IT CAN! you just have to put a lot of effort in and have the right background."
Rob Davies, equiem.com.

"Firebrand* fit a lot of effective training into a short time at a reasonable price - they're simply the best value for money we could find."
Gsvin Greig, Insights Learning & Development Ltd..
Microsoft MCAD to MCSD Upgrade (5 Days) (7/2/2005 to 11/2/2005)
"The instructors don't just know the technology, they use it day-in-day-out in the real world. If you listen to them, and put in all your time and effort, you'll not only come away with your qualification, but the enthusiasm to use your new skills back in the office.
Its a tough course, but these guys CAN get you through it.
"
Phil Richardson, Gissings.
Microsoft MCAD to MCSD Upgrade (5 Days) (23/4/2007 to 27/4/2007)
"The main thing that sold me on attending Firebrand* is that it is total immersion. The training centre is self contained so your room is steps away from the classroom, and canteen, and with the workload there is little opportunity to go outside anyway! Intensive training is an understatement! We covered so much in the two weeks, I can hardly believe it. It would help greatly, though, if you were already quite familiar with the subject matter. Post training, I would recommend Firebrand* for the quality of training I received, and the friendliness of the place (the food was excellent too!). It was very hard work though, and I'm sure that training this intensive is not for everyone!"
Mark Tralls, UniChem Ltd.
Microsoft MCAD/MCSD (12 Days) (1/5/2006 to 12/5/2006)
"Learn alot in a short time, and came away qualified but exhausted"
Farid Abdi, Thames Valley University.
Microsoft MCAD to MCSD Upgrade (5 Days) (12/7/2004 to 18/7/2004)
"Extremely hard work, be prepared to have little sleep and lots of reading. Not for the feint of heart.
I will say this though, you will not regret it. When you come out qualified, it will justify all the long nights.
Just like to add, the instrutors are excellent, and REALLY know their stuff."
Steve Sweales, T-Mobile.
Microsoft MCAD/MCSD (12 Days) (30/8/2004 to 12/9/2004)
"My experience at Firebrand* was one I will never forget. It is very hard work and you need to be compleetly focused to get the best from it. This is made easier by the excellent staff and tutors.
The instructor was by far the best tutor I have had the pleasure of being tought by. Not only did he know the course back to front, but his knowledge of .NET was second to none. I always felt comfortable that I would learn all I need to pass the exams.
I will certainly be using Firebrand* again!
Well done to all staff"
Mark Ruby, Reuters.
Microsoft MCAD/MCSD (12 Days) (1/5/2006 to 12/5/2006)
"This was a HARD 2 weeks, but very effective from a learning point of view.
The more prepared you can be the better, and get plenty of sleep before the course, because there are a few late nights.

"Before I came here I had never used Visual Studio or any Microsoft programming language, other than some preparation for the course. Now, twelve days later,.I am an MCSD and feel pretty comfortable with Visual Studio .NET and C#. I now have to go back and use all this in my job, and feel ready to do so. The instructor was excellent, and the environment was good for learning. It's hard work but definitely worth it."

"Looking back on what I've achieved over the past 2 weeks I almost can't believe that I did it.
For anyone considering doing accelerated learning, don't be mistaken, it is HARD but it is possible, no matter how much you think you do or don't know coming in.
I have had no formal programming training and Firebrand* got me an MCSD with 100% first-time pass rate."

Jonathan Dedman, Alpine Automation.
Microsoft MCAD to MCSD Upgrade (5 Days) (28/8/2006 to 1/9/2006)
"The time spent at Firebrand* was well worth it. However, it is so intensive and the reading materials that had to be covered are so much in a short time. Unlike me, please read ALL the prereading materials sent to you before you get in. I will definitely recommend a Firebrand* experience to anyone going for a certification. I got the MCAD at least!"
George France, Contractor.
Microsoft MCAD/MCSD (12 Days) (26/6/2006 to 7/7/2006)
"Having attended training courses in the past, I only really expected to get certification out of the course. I was wrong. Having only a little experience in .Net, I came away with a really good grounding across the board. I have never been on a course where you learn so much in such a short period of time. Of course, the instructor was awesome!"
George Weaving, Meridian Computer Services.
Microsoft MCAD/MCSD (12 Days) (1/5/2006 to 12/5/2006)
"When our instructor told us "Trust me" on the initiation day, i though "Yea.... right. Everybody says that." But I decided to do so and I managed to pass the 3 MCAD exams without problem and with high marks as well. His experience was evident and I was lucky to be taught by such an individual.
